The Khari Sharif district has a number of small townships and villages in it and is well known throughout Pakistan because of two Sufi saints’ shrines situated there. The famous Sufi Saint Peer-e-shah Ghazi, and his follower of 150 years ago, the famous Sufi poet Mian Mohammad who wrote the poetry book Saif ul Malook (The Sword of Kings) in Panjabi – a book which is now taught in top universities.
Our new Allama Iqbal School Khari Sharif (AISKS) is only 5 minutes walk from the two holy shrines.
It is our intention to open a fourth primary school and a High School where children from the four primary schools will have higher education. The primary schools have mixed classes whereas in Middle and High school male and female classes will be segregated. The fourth primary school is likely to be in one of the following places: Mangla, Chitterpari or Ban Khurman. We are continually looking for land or a building for our High School between Dina and Islamgarh.
Our aim is that the children who entered the school in nursery class should complete their education under our system. Our aim is not only to educate them, but also provide tarbiah (safe upbringing). When they graduate they will be able to earn a skilled living in their own country, the Middle East and Europe and be model citizens.
By the time the first class graduates we will be providing jobs to 400 families to get them out of poverty. If this happens every year the future of poor people and the country will look a lot brighter.
We started AISKS with 45 students (15 students in each of nursery, prep and class one). These children are provided with free education, books, stationery, uniform and a cooked lunch each day. We are grateful to all our donors who financially support the three schools. In keeping with our standards we only employ qualified degree-holding teaching staff and the results speak for themselves.
